Brussels is home to a fascinating array of animals, from urban wildlife like foxes and birds to cherished pets and farm animals in educational and urban farming initiatives. How can we better understand and support these animals while fostering a harmonious city for all?
Our "Animals in Brussels" talk series invites you to explore these topics through interactive discussions, expert insights, and community connection. Each session is an opportunity to learn, engage, and take action for a more animal-friendly Brussels.
This series is presented by Jennifer Duvillers from OSTA - Organization for the Spiritual Treatment of Animals.

Talk 1: Meeting the Animals of Brussels
Explore the rich diversity of Brussels’ animal inhabitants: from urban wildlife (foxes, birds, squirrels) in our parks to pets in residential areas and farm animals in educational farms and urban farming initiatives. Learn about ongoing research projects and community initiatives supporting animals in Brussels.
Talk 2: Urban Coexistence
Join our discussion on strategies for living alongside both wild and domestic animals, covering responsible pet ownership and practical solutions for common urban animal challenges.
Talk 3: Understanding Animal Policies
Get a clear picture of animal-related policies at various government levels (local, regional, federal and European) and their impact on Brussels’ animal life.
Talk 4: Building a Brussels for Animals Community
Explore practical ways to support animals in the city through community action, leading to the creation of a Brussels for Animals community that actively works to make Brussels more animal-friendly.
You can become part of the Brussels for Animals community! These talks will provide you with understanding and practical tools to contribute to animal well-being (including animal welfare and wildlife conservation) while connecting with others who share your interest in our city's diverse animal inhabitants.
