Who are DierAnimal?
DierAnimal is Belgium’s first national, bilingual political party dedicated to animal rights and environmental justice. Founded in 2018 by Constance Adonis Villalon, Peter Verhaegen, and Giuseppe Polito, the party advocates for a society where all living beings—regardless of species—are treated with equal respect.
The party's core mission includes enshrining animal rights in the Belgian constitution, ending intensive livestock farming and animal experimentation, and promoting sustainable, plant-based agriculture. DierAnimal also supports global efforts for forest conservation and reforestation.
In the 2019 regional elections, DierAnimal secured a seat in the Brussels Parliament, marking a significant milestone for animal advocacy in Belgian politics. Although the party currently holds no parliamentary seats, it remains active in raising awareness and campaigning for systemic change.
DierAnimal is part of the broader Animal Politics EU network, aligning with similar parties across Europe to champion the rights of animals and the environment.
