Today, we're thrilled to take you along on our culinary journey to Brasserie Surrealiste, a captivating restaurant and bar nestled in the vibrant Dansaert area. An embodiment of the creative spirit of Brussels, this eclectic spot has not just captured our attention, but also our taste buds with their vegan-friendly offerings.
As we stepped into Brasserie Surrealiste, we were instantly transported into a surreal atmosphere, with a uniquely eclectic decor that complemented the bustling energy of Dansaert. Every detail, from the art on the walls to the selection of drinks on offer, echoed the passion and character of this remarkable establishment.
The highlight, as always, was the vegan food. To start, we had the corn ribs - a delightful twist on the classic dish, replacing the traditional pork ribs with corn. Grilled to perfection, each bite was an explosion of flavor, with the smokiness of the corn perfectly balanced with the cajun spices. The only downside are the sticky fingers!
Next, we tried the miso eggplant, a delectable dish that wowed us with its savory-sweet flavor profile. The eggplant was delicately cooked, with the miso glaze providing a subtle umami kick that we simply couldn't get enough of.
The culinary voyage continued with the roasted fennel. A testament to the power of simple, well-cooked ingredients, the fennel was beautifully roasted, with its natural sweetness amplified by the charring. Paired with a refreshing beer from the extensive list on offer, the experience was nothing short of surreal.
They also offer a falafel (ask without yogurt sauce!) and hummus dish - a classic Middle Eastern combination that never fails to please. What's more, they've expressed openness to expanding their vegan offerings if the demand grows. This is where we, the Vegan Brussels community, come in.
